New Sunday School Program starting this Fall!
Sundays 9am-9:45amFall 2024 marks our transition from our previous Worship Wednesday program to a Sunday morning program. This transition comes from the results of various congregational surveys to find a day and time that works for the most people as we transition to in-person gatherings once again. The day and time that works best for the most people is Sundays at 9am. Our program will begin on September 22nd and will include Bible stories, snacks, music, playtime, and an occasional special craft. We will be meeting as a large group until our numbers necessitate breaking out into smaller groups. Please mark your calendars and come! Registration information is below!
There will also be a time to gather together as adults at this same 9am time. We will gather in the lower level (room yet to be determined) for Bible study, fellowship, and whatever else is feeding for the group (open to suggestions!). |
RegisterTo participate in our new Sunday School program, please register your child(ren) by completing both of the forms on the Registration page (one set of forms for each child).

Sunday School Goals
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Sunday School is a bit different from other opportunities for your children. In a sport, you will see the progress your child makes in developing their physical skills. In a music program, you will see progress in their ability to play music. With Sunday School, it is a little harder to track progress unless you know what to look for. Below is our intent for providing a Sunday School program: our purpose, our goals, and some ways to see if our program is making a positive change in your child’s life.
Purpose: To teach children about God, God’s story (in particular: Jesus), and how to love God and love other people.

Purpose: To teach children about God, God’s story (in particular: Jesus), and how to love God and love other people.
Goals:
- Learn important Biblical stories
- Learn how to love God through: actions, choices, prayer, and care for creation
- Learn how to love other people through: actions, words, choices, and service
- Learn why the church exists and why we gather together each week
- Learn songs to remember key things about God
- Have fun together in a safe environment
Ways to track progress:
- See if your child is curious about God and God’s story (ask them questions and see what they are learning)
- See if your child uses language to love people (please, thank you, you’re welcome, I love you, good job, etc.)
- See if your child’s actions are loving (sharing, caring about others, helping, noticing and thanking helpers, gratitude)
- Ability and confidence in praying (talking to God)
- Exhibiting characteristics of the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness
Intergenerational Meal
We will begin having an Intergenerational Meal event every 2nd Sunday of the month. We will gather in the Fellowship Hall from 4pm-6pm for a meal and time of shared learning as a community. Children in Worship
Children are important to us here at ULC and we’re dedicated to providing a strong foundation for their lifelong faith formation. We invite you and your children to worship, learn, and grow together toward the front of the Sanctuary.

Consider the “Three E’s” that help us welcome a child’s participation in worship:
- Educate: It is our joy and hope that children will feel welcome to worship in ways that uniquely appeal to their cognitive development. Each week a variety of books related to the theme of the day, as well as “Celebrate!” inserts that help children follow along with the liturgy, are provided.
- Engage: Being up front is a great way for children to see, hear, learn, and participate in worship! Each week there will be a variety of different ways to capture the imagination of our children through the sharing of scripture, music, dancing, coloring pages, puzzles, and more.
- Equip: By providing a dedicated place for children in worship, they are better able to concretely understand their value as a child of God, and to know, “There’s a place for me here.”
