Sofie Piotrowski
(she/her)

My name is Sofie Piotrowski, and I am a senior majoring in Zoology with a focus in Animal Behavior and Neurobiology and a minor in Marine Ecosystem Management, with hopes to go to veterinary school and eventually work with marine life. This will be my third year as a Student Associate, and I am so excited for another year with one of my favorite campus groups. This past summer I stuck around East Lansing working at the Aquatic Animal Health Lab on campus and have had such a good experience there. I also traveled to Peru where I interned at a wildlife rescue in the Amazon. When I’m not doing schoolwork or planning for One Community, I can probably be found crocheting or doing something art related, hiking, or hanging out with my dog, Rae. I’m so excited for this upcoming year and to finish off my undergraduate career with a group of awesome people.

Lena Oslund

Hi! My name is Lena, I’m a senior majoring in Genomics and Molecular Genetics with a minor in Bioethics. After I graduate this year, I’m planning on starting a master’s program in genetic counseling. This is my second year as a student associate, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the year brings! This past summer I spent a month in Berlin studying the history of eugenics as part of my minor. We also spent some time travelling in Europe while I was there. I spent the rest of the summer working on a research fellowship with UC San Diego looking at how note sheets for exams help students taking genetics exams. Outside of classes and work I spend a lot of time at the gym, and crocheting.
