Worship

Children are important to us here at ULC and we’re dedicated to providing a strong foundation for their lifelong faith formation. During worship,  we invite you and your children to worship, learn, and grow together toward the front of the Sanctuary.

Consider the “Three E’s” that help us welcome a child’s participation in worship:
  1. Educate: It is our joy and hope that children will feel welcome to worship in ways that uniquely appeal to their cognitive development. Each week a variety of books related to the theme of the day, as well as “Celebrate!” inserts that help children follow along with the liturgy, are provided.
  2. Engage: Being up front is a great way for children to see, hear, learn, and participate in worship! Each week there will be a variety of different ways to capture the imagination of our children through the sharing of scripture, music, dancing, coloring pages, puzzles, and more.
  3. Equip: By providing a dedicated place for children in worship, they are better able to concretely understand their value as a child of God, and to know, “There’s a place for me here.”
Exercising the “Three E’s” with children in our congregation continues to help us grow as an inter-generational faith community. Together we are on the road of lifelong faith formation for the sake of Christ’s church.  We hope that you and your children will feel welcome to enjoy the space in worship; to actively participate, focus, grow in faith and learn about God’s love in their own unique and wiggly way!

Join us on Sunday mornings for
FAITH FORMATION @ ULC
between services from 9:40 am to 10:30 am
(on hiatus during Covid-19 closure)

Children two years old through 12th grade are invited to attend Sunday Faith Formation classes between services from 9:40 to 10:30 a.m. every Sunday morning (September 16th-May). All classes are held downstairs in the Education wing.

Early Learners

This is a special time set aside for small children, ages 2-4 years old, while parents are enjoying coffee, tea, and fellowship in small groups during the education hour. Our early learners will be welcomed and accompanied by youth and young adult leaders for storytime, music, and crafts.

Children K-5

Picture
We love this year’s SparkHouse “Activate Faith” curriculum for children Kindergarten through 5th grade because it’s creative, interactive, and FUN: following the lectionary (or weekly readings in Sunday worship), the lessons our children learn in Sunday School overlap with what we hear, see, and experience in worship.

Children's Choir

Takes place during Sunday School for Kindergarten through 5th Grade at 9:40 a.m. Children’s Choir will gather every other Sunday in the children’s music room. They will sing throughout the year in worship and a schedule will be provided for parents.

Middle School/High School

In two small groups: grades 6th-8th and 9th-12th, students will explore their faith with SparkHouse “Echo the Story.” Using stories from Creation to the formation of the church, our youth and their leaders will use a variety of methods in storytelling and creative reflection to retell the story of faith.

Looking for Adult Faith Formation Opportunities?
