Welcome Students!
Who We AreWe are a safe and loving place to build friendships, community, and to learn about Jesus. All are welcome with us: whether you're a life-long Lutheran, exploring your faith, or seeking an open and affirming community, you are welcome here!
We offer opportunities for worship, fellowship, and service to undergrad and graduate students in the greater Lansing area. We are part of a Reconciling in Christ congregation. The congregation's welcome statement (below) is also who we strive to be as a Campus Ministry program. |
Statement of Intentional Welcome
In response to the call to Romans 15:7, "Welcome one another, therefore as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God," we believe that every person has worth as an individual and every person is entitled to dignity and respect. We, therefore, publicly proclaim that:
We welcome people of any race, nationality, age, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression into the membership of our church, and we encourage everyone to share their faith, gifts and talents in worship, service, study and leadership;
We commit to remove all barriers that exclude people from full and active participation in our church;
We will continually strive to eliminate prejudice from our thoughts and actions and discourage prejudice by others at every opportunity.
Adopted Nov. 18, 2001; amended Nov. 16, 2009; amended Nov. 16, 2014

Our HistoryAt ULC, our mission has always been tied to the MSU community. ULC as a congregation actually began as a student ministry in 1942 that met in the Masonic Temple, the pastor's living room, and the State Theater before building a home on Ann Street. Campus ministry has taken many different forms over the past 70 years. We are currently led by Pastor Zachariah, a group of Student Associates, and a Campus Ministry Team consisting of resident members from our congregation.
