Refer a student to Lutheran Campus Ministry! Do you know a recent high school graduate or current college student? Help them find a church home at college here!
There is a safe and loving place for you at ULC and we hope you feel at home. We have been praying for you even before you arrived on campus, and together we promise to keep supporting you in prayer as your academic year takes shape. All are welcome, whether you're a life-long Lutheran, exploring your faith or seeking an open and affirming community...you are welcome here!
We offer opportunities for worship, fellowship and service to undergrad and graduate students in the greater Lansing area; and you don't have to be Lutheran to join us! Our Student Lounge is located near ULC's entrance and has comfy couches, a flat-screen TV and free wi-fi.
At ULC, our mission has always been tied to the MSU community. ULC as a congregation actually began as a student ministry in 1942 that met in the Masonic Temple, the pastor's living room, and the State Theater before building a home on Ann Street. Campus ministry has taken many different forms over the past 70 years. We are currently led by Pastor Haley Vay Beaman, our elected Student Associates, and a Campus Ministry Team consisting of resident members from our congregation.
Worship With Us
We invite you and your friends and family to join us on Sundays for on-line worship at 10:00 a.m. on Facebook Live or anytime on our YouTube Channel We will return to in-person worship as soon as we can do so safely.
Prior to the pandemic, we joined together for worship at ULC. You and your friends and family are invited to join us on Sundays for worship at ULC (8:30 or 10:45 a.m. Sept. - Apr.); (9:30 a.m. May - Aug.).
If you're interested in singing or playing music, ULC also has an awesome music program where you can plug in and enjoy the camaraderie of music fellowship and song. Student vocal scholarships are also available on a yearly basis.
We're open in every way!
Below is a listing of the events that were available to students last year. Similar activities will be scheduled when we return to in-person activities. When the Student Associates “return” in mid-August we will be planning some virtual events if in-person is still not possible. Please let us know how we can help you in these unusual times.
- FRIDAY @ FIVE. Every Friday at 5 p.m. students gather at ULC for a meal and fellowship, service opportunities, and a variety of speakers that engage in faith, life, and justice issues. The first Friday of every month we enjoy a meal provided by friends in the congregation. If you are interested in providing a meal for students, please contact Pastor Haley Vay.
- Monday Night Bible Study Young adults are welcome to a weekly on-campus Bible study on Mondays, with a soft-start at 6:30 p.m. and concluding by 8 p.m. We’ll gather outside on the Wells Hall Quad and move indoors when the weather changes. Each week we focus on scripture from the Narrative Lectionary between Sundays. Come as you are and when you’re able! All young adults are welcome; you don’t need to be a student to attend.
- Young Adult Book Club Each month we will dive into a different book that helps us explore faith and life together.
- Get Connected! If you are interested in knowing more about our campus ministry events, please contact our Student Associates to be added to our email communication--we promise not to flood your inbox.
