What:       ULC Annual Meeting

Important business items include the election, budget approval, and an update of the ULC Constitution to conform with the 2016 Model Constitution for Congregations of the ELCA. There will be snacks provided immediately after worship and just prior to the meeting.  Additionally, there will be nursery/child care and lunch provided for children during the meeting.

We will have an agenda item this year that goes beyond the typical Annual Meeting business.  Council has recommended that ULC bring our constitution into conformance with the ELCA model constitution.  This will not only bring our constitution up to date with the national church, but also enables us to update our Bylaws and Continuing Resolutions if we so choose (no Bylaws or Continuing Resolutions changes are on the agenda).  You will have several opportunities to learn more about the update to the constitution.  At the Sunday Forum on October 15 (9:40-10:30 a.m.), President-Elect Lisa Swem will provide a review of the constitutional update.  There are copies of the ULC Constitution available in the office showing the proposed changes.  The document showing the changes is also on the ULC website http://ulcel.org/.  And, there will be an article in the November LUX highlighting the changes.

I also encourage you to participate in the Sunday Forum on November 5 (9:40-10:30 a.m.) for information on the 2017 activities of the congregation and the 2018 budget.   The complete annual report packet will be available for you to pick up in the narthex on Sunday, November 5.

As we look ahead to 2018, I am extremely excited about the opportunities that we have to increase the scope and impact of our ministry. I invite you to prayerfully consider how you might contribute your unique gifts to that shared mission as we move forward as an “integrated family.”  I look forward to seeing you at the meeting on the 12th. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Sincerely,

Vicki S. Anderson
